Have you ever spent Christmas in another state or country without family?
When Simone Winthrop’s grandmother dies she discovers an unopened letter from her French great grandmother, who Simone is named after. The letter says that she is heir to a family treasure in their homeland town in France.
After some encouragement by Simone’s best friend, and the fact that Simone might as well spend Christmas in the beautiful French Alps since her last relative has just passed, Simone finds herself on a plane heading toward France.
This is a feel-good novella celebrating the beauty of God’s creation, friendship, and love. I would suggest you leave your critical thinking behind as you open this book that whisks you to a beautiful winter wonderland.
My Concerns
While I suggest you leave your critical thinking behind, I found it hard to in several instances.
- When Simone discovers the letter that instructs her to look for a treasure in her great grandmother’s hometown in France. Simone’s friend jumps right on monetary riches and pushes Simone to travel to France.
- Who travels to a town in France and starts looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack? She has no earthly idea what treasure she is looking for.
- Coincidences are in abundance
Final Thoughts
Regardless of the concerns I’ve shared, if you’re looking for a relaxing, enjoyable Christmas novella with a good message, reach for this enjoyable book.
