Book Description
In this bighearted book, the real story of a young boy with deafness in his ears is aided by his mother and teachers in navigating new school experiences. Mickey is just like everyone else, except he wears cochlear implants and has to do things just a little differently than most. This charming tale reminds us that we can all find happiness if we lean on and support each other.

My Thoughts
Concerns
I had a small concerns
- I would have felt more comfortable if it had just focused on the first day of school rather than the fact that Mickey moves around, which really wasn’t addressed and thus made the title a bit confusing.
Conclusion
Regardless of my concerns, which I mentioned are small, I definitely recommend this story book. Anything that teaches and brings new understanding to disabilities is very important. Though I hate to use that word, since many with this classification are less disabled than those classified as normal. And that’s a positive statement in their behalf, since I truly admire their attitude and fortitude.Â
I’m wondering if this wouldn’t be good to address in a chapter book, since I know there is much more to Mickey and Michelle’s story.
