My Thoughts:
Vanessa Thompson appears to be obsessed with her ex-husband and his new fiancee.
Richard, her ex, is a hedge fund manager who provided Vanessa with a marriage most can only imagine. But he’s not just generous, he seems to understand and love her through many of the trials of marriage.
However, after trying to become pregnant, and a series of failed fertility treatments, their marriage begins to seriously fray at the seams. Both individuals begin to exhibit signs that will make you question who they really are.
The story slowly unfolds using multi-viewpoint.
Though it feels like it might be the typical story of ex-wife stalking the new fiancee, it turns out to be much more. It weaves around quite a bit between the present and past tense, but it’s handled very well. And I can guarantee you, it is much more than what you might be thinking when you start reading this book.
What Concerned Me:
I was surprised to find the beginning a little slow since I had in mind a thriller should move faster. But as I read on I
realized the importance of background and information about the characters.
In a short time, I was pulled into the story and started flipping through the pages at a quicker pace. Though one twist didn’t come as much of a surprise, others did.
What I Liked Best:
If you like a psychological thriller with twists, this is a book you’ll want to include on your to-be-read list. You should be entertained and guessing to the end.
