A Breathless Thriller

Synopsis

Beauty. Wealth. Success.

She’s got it all.

And it all should’ve been mine.

When Eleanor Hardwicke’s beloved father dies, her world is further shattered by a gut-wrenching secret: the man she’s grieving isn’t really her dad. Eleanor was the product of an affair and her biological father is still out there, living blissfully with the family he chose. With her personal life spiraling, a desperate Eleanor seeks him out, leading her to uncover another branch on her family tree—an infuriatingly enviable half-sister.

Perfectly perfect Victoria has everything Eleanor could ever dream of. Loving childhood, luxury home, devoted husband. All of it stolen from Eleanor, who plans to take it back. After all, good sisters are supposed to share. And quiet little Eleanor has been waiting far too long for her turn to play.

My Thoughts

Sister Dear Kindle picture

I hardly know where to begin. Let me just say, I was extremely glad I had the audio so that I could listen as I worked around the house and drove the car. I kept wanting to know just a little bit more. And then just a teeny bit more.

While the beginning seemed somewhat ordinary, it didn’t take long for this layered, twisty slow-burn to cause me to even listen as I was going to sleep.

Knowing that Sister Dear is a psychological thriller I kept jumping from idea to idea in an effort to decipher what might really be happening.

Listening with headphones

As my thoughts danced around, the characters quietly pulled me in with their interesting personalities. But are they really who they seem to be, my mind screamed!

The main character, Eleanor, had such believable reactions and thoughts about herself and others. I immediately liked her and felt for some of the emotions she was experiencing.

And her half-sister Victoria was so sweet. Were she and Eleanor going to discover a friendship? And even rich Victoria wasn’t without some inner insecurities and problems that I also had empathy for.

By now it’s bound to be obvious that this is a book that I couldn’t get enough of. And when the end managed to sneak up, it felt shocking, upsetting, and mind-blowing. But all of that was okay since these emotions can go hand-in-hand with a great, suspenseful, psychological thriller.
