Book Description:

As a wife, mom and former corporate go-getter, Cheryl knows firsthand the frustration of trying to do it all and feeling that none of it is good enough. As the world slowed down for a global pandemic, Cheryl inspected her own life and who she wanted to become—who she needed to become—to serve at her highest level. Much of this discovery occurred in the kitchen during playful evenings side-by-side with her sons, husband, and mother. Their time together led Cheryl to realize that how you measure your priorities, mix them in with your life experiences, and marinate on and adjust to the results determines the direction of your life.

Including Interview

Cheryl Schuberth is a graduate of the University of California San Diego and a respected corporate leader.

As a wife, mom, and former corporate go-getter, Cheryl knows firsthand the frustration of trying to do it all and feeling that none of it is good enough. After twenty-five years leading and coaching teams in the male-dominated technology space, she stepped away from that world and embarked on a mission to enhance her relationships with her teenage sons and, at the same time, empower other working women to become more curious about their options and reevaluate their priorities.

She now coaches women to help them feel their best, increase their confidence, and put themselves at the top of the list. Cheryl lives outside Boulder, CO, where she enjoys hiking, skiing, and all things outdoors.

Interview

1. Your book structure is unique. How did you come up with the idea for your book?
I’d known for a few years that I’d wanted to write a book, but couldn’t find a subject I wanted to write about. When the world shut down last year, I started a weekly activity with my teenage sons, making dinner from a different culture each week. As I posted our results on social media, a friend of my husband’s suggested I write a book. I’d also just left my corporate career and was learning a lot about myself and who I needed to become to step into my next phase of life. I decided to leverage my self-reflection to encourage other women to be bold and step into their best life, while showcasing my new connection with my kids.

2. What advice would you give budding writers?
Start with learning about the industry. Increase your confidence by talking with people who’ve been there and who’ve been around writers. Authors, publishing consultants, writing coaches, podcasters are a few suggestions. Find out what they’ve learned and what tips they can share. All of the feedback may not speak to you, but it will help you determine your next step.

3. What is your favorite part of the day?
I love the first hour of the day when everyone else is still asleep. It’s quiet and I can get my own thoughts in order and set my intention for the day before the rest of the house wakes up.

4. What is your favorite travel destination?
One of my favorite places I’ve visited is Thailand. The people are kind (it’s called the land of smiles for a reason), the food is amazing, the terrain is varied and it didn’t break the bank. We started in Bangkok and went south. I’d like to go back and explore the northern and eastern parts of the country.

5. What’s one of your most memorable travel experiences?
During my semester studying abroad in Spain, I had the chance to go to Oktoberfest in Munich. When we walked into the beer tent, we didn’t see any open seats. An elderly German couple, who didn’t speak any English, grabbed my arm and ushered me and my two friends to seats at their table. Also seated at the table were a group of younger Italian men. We talked with each other all evening, the guys in Italian and German, and us in Spanish, and had great conversation. Everyone was patient as we navigated unknown words and enjoyed the experience together.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share with your readers. I’m including some Amazon news that’s bound to have you smiling.
