Nick Heller is an investigator hired by top-notch attorney Gideon Parnell. He needs Heller to clear his friend Chief Justice Jeremiah Claflin from a false report that Slander Sheet, a gossip website, is about to post. They are threatening to print a story that will report that Claflin spent three nights with a call girl. Parnell, the attorney, tells Nick he has 48 hours to discredit the story before it’s put up on Slander Sheet’s website.

The story is fast-paced and looks like Nick will have his job taken care of in no time. However, when he discovers problems with the call girl’s story, then later she’s found dead, the easy case suddenly becomes complicated.

This book is the third in a series. Nick Heller, a former Special Forces operative in Iraq brings more to being
an investigator than other books of this type.

My Thoughts

What Concerned Me: Nothing

What I Liked Most: Because the story begins quickly and maintains a good rhythm throughout, many should really enjoy it. There are twists and turns, but never too many to keep track of.

I definitely plan on reading more books by this author.
