Book Cover for Escargot

– Has This French Snail Got A Story For You! –

A French snail named Escargot is traveling to the end of the book because there is a beautiful salad, complete with croutons and a light vinaigrette dressing there. He has a wonderful conversation with the reader: asking what your favorite animal is, asking you to give him a little push, and even giving you the chance to kiss him if you would like to.

Of course, he wouldn’t be a French snail if he didn’t throw in French words occasionally. The reader is invited to come with him on his trip to the salad. Because Escargot is French the story will be even better if read with an accent.

As the reader and snail proceed to the salad. . . and carrot. . . at the end of the book, the snail enjoys talking with the reader.

What Concerned Me: Nothing

What I Liked Most: Reading this book with even the worst French accent will make it fun for both kids and adults. Escargot shares with the reader that he never wants carrots on his salad, but toward the end, he discovers there is actually a piece of carrot on the salad. So he makes a deal with the reader.

“If you will try it, I will try it, too. On the count of three, we will take a very, very, very small bite of the carrot.”

And surprise, surprise, it is so delicious that he might have forgotten to share the carrot. Which might be a good message for the picky eaters who are listening to the book.

All in all this book is Magnifique!
