My Thoughts
Chipper has it on his heart to make his sad friends happy. But he’s a little disappointed with his first two attempts when things don’t work out as he’d hoped. He makes a plan and decides to give it one more try.
This book offers just the right kind of story for the holiday season. The writing flows, the word count is short, and the text is simple, with just the right amount of repetitive wordplay, which little ones will love.
The illustrations complement the story beautifully. And the messages that are tucked into this little story make it perfect for opening up conversations with little ones.

I highly recommend this story. It isn’t too wordy, it offers a priceless message, and the illustrations beautifully capture the spirit of the story.

Morgan is a fun wife, and imperfect mom of 3 crazy kiddos and 2 little lemon (problematic) dogs. She tries to live her strengths the best she can. She likes to say she is creative, not crafty. Morgan is a homemade Halloween costume type of mom. She lets her kids mix the play doh. She bakes fun birthday cakes (cutely, but far from perfection). She loves a homemade valentine and a school project. Chipper the Fox is an extension of Morgan’s creative strength. Originally designed as character to create merry during the holiday season, Chipper has grown and developed into a story of determination and love.
Interview
Your book is set in the forest of the arctic. Have you ever been there?
No! And I hope to never go. I was born and raised in the Florida sunshine, and I am not a fan of the cold. I live in Charlotte now ,which has four seasons, but winter is my least favorite. However, disliking the chilly winter, made writing about how my characters struggles a little bit easier, as I could relate to being cold and lonely. And who isn’t always hungry?!
Do you snack while writing? Favorite snack?
I have always been a healthy eater, however, sometimes I need a little pick me up and kale chips do not cut it. My current vice while writing is peanut butter M&Ms and Terra Vegetable Chips. They sound healthy but they are not. If I have a morning work session, I always have coffee with me. If I am working in the afternoon, I love Bubbly sparkling water!
Where do you write?
I mostly set up shop at the kitchen counter. I have a nice, private writing desk in my bedroom with a beautiful view of the backyard. However, I prefer to look at my dirty dishes in the sink and out the kitchen window as the daily walkers stroll by.
Tell us about your first published book?
What was the journey like? Chipper Makes Merry is my first published book! It has been such a fun journey. I developed the main character, Chipper, years ago as part of a holiday activity box for busy parents. His story grew out of my attempt to make the holidays fun and rewarding for others. The book has been a long time in the making as I wrote it and edited it for over a year. I finally took the plunge to publish it and its’ been a wild but fulfilling ride. There has been a huge learning curve to bring a book to market, but I was happy that his old dog could learn new tricks!
