Description

While dangling a fishing hook from his flat bottom skiff before dawn, former SEAL-turned-PI Craige Ingram spots grey-black smoke coiling above the treetops across the river in the direction of the Georgia bayous and
Corpsewood Manor. Bayou or bogs, fire in the uncut cypress and pines bodes a sense that the river is no barrier to the fire that threatens his ancestral home, Moccasin Hollow. Neither are the bodies later found in the burned mansion of Corpsewood Manor. Craige wastes no time in helping his ex-SEAL buddy Lt. Graysen MacGerald who is now Head of Buckingham Homicide Investigations by unofficially investigating the bodies and an exquisite dragonfly brooch found in the mansion with a reputation for evil, hauntings, and mystery.

Interview

How did you do research for your book?

Personal interviews, law enforcement reports in public domain AND, most important, god bless `em…public library reference librarians. They know so much they scare me and very important sources for another genre for my title, Moccasin Trace – a historical romance. Verify your facts, setting, dress, era, habits, all the things that can trip up a writer by the keen eyes of readers.

Which was the hardest character to write? The easiest?

The hardest? My psychotic killers. The writer must make them seem fully integrated with the ‘norm’, and they ain’t. The easiest characters are my female characters. Villain or heroine, I love my female characters in my romance genre as well as my Cairns of Sainctuarie Science Fiction Series and the Moccasin Hollow Mystery Series. I like them carrying a good slug of the plot – and plot-twists.

Do you ever get writer’s block? What helps you overcome it?

This writer can define writer’s block, but I can’t empathize with how it feels. I’ve never experienced it. My nitty-gritty is the opposite – a plethora of tales with not enough time to tell them all.

What genre do you write and why?

Good tales – good characters are all cross-genre. I pay little attention to genre. It’s a mortar and brick online bookseller term. A tale told well is going to have the recipes and chunk common to all. I’ve titles in a sci-fi series and a historical romance that sets the family backgrounds for my serial protagonist in the Moccasin Hollow Mystery Series.

Do you snack while writing?

No snack. No music. No phone. No windows. No interruptions. My study is like a cave on Mars that allows me to turn my imagination loose with all the tools of the writing professions.
