My Thoughts

I really enjoyed this book. I loved that it was during the prohibition era and that it contained not only a romance but a mystery.

The main characters Elissa and Cole worked well together, yet I was a bit turned off by Elissa’s attitude at times. However, I understood that much of that was just to protect herself.

Typically, I read more mysteries than anything else, and the mystery part of this novel didn’t disappoint me. Lots of twists and surprises.

Slippers

If you’re looking for a romance with a little deeper story, I would highly recommend you check this out.

I didn’t realize until after I finished reading this and looked at other reviews that this is a debut novel. That makes me all the more impressed! I’ve got McDaniel on my radar and I will be looking for her new book.

I received this ebook as a complimentary copy. My opinions and thoughts are my own.

What Concerned Me

Basically, there wasn’t much that concerned me. I guess, if I was going to be nit-picky, I didn’t really care that much for Elissa.

What I Liked Most

This is an easier part to answer than What Concerned Me. Though I don’t read much historical fiction, I thoroughly enjoyed it in this story. And being a mystery reader who is branching out into romance novels, it was wonderful. The mystery added lots to the story.

About The Author

About Me by Rachel McDaniel

As much as I’d love to occupy this space gushing about my fanatical penchant for all things classic movies, I probably should mention that I’m an award-winning Christian romance writer. I hope to inspire the mind and refresh the soul with words infused with faith and heart. Because I could never resist a good mystery, suspense and intrigue routinely sneak into my stories. My work is represented by Julie Gwinn from the Seymour Agency. I currently enjoy life with my husband and two children. ©rachelmcdaniel
