My Thoughts

Your Mission:

Find and recover the dragon egg from the castle before the time-travel portal closes forever!

This is a book that is perfect for those who love to work puzzles. As I was reading it, I could imagine working through the story and puzzles as a joint project with a friend, child, or even grandchild.

What makes this so much more interesting than just a book of puzzles is the story. And the storyline is definitely one that should appeal to young people.

As with any game, there are some instructions at the beginning. One of the first things to note is that Dooz, the robot, has included a toolbox at the back of the book. In it are objects that will be needed to solve some of the puzzles.

The story begins when Dooz transports you inside the castle walls. It seems a powerful magician is imprisoned there. He can tell you how to locate an invisibility potion that you will eventually need. But he is in the dungeon and you have to cross the inner courtyard to get there.

“You can cross the courtyard in any way you want, but be careful: some of the flagstones are booby-trapped . . .

Now here’s an added something that I really love about this book. Not only does it contain a story with puzzles to solve. There are important facts included throughout. They are listed on what looks like small file cards labeled Do You Know?

Included with this first puzzle is information regarding a castle. What the word means and a little bit of history, including what they were typically made of.

This 48-page book is sure to provide lots of entertainment for various age groups.

My thanks to Schiffer Publishing for a copy of the book. This #bookreview is strictly my opinion.
