What’s Being Said
“Ready for a book that is a race from page one to the end? Then you need to read Life Flight.”
—Cara Putman, award-winning author of Flight Risk and Lethal Intent
“A heart-stopping, breath-stealing masterpiece of romantic suspense!”
–Colleen Coble, USAToday bestselling author
My Thoughts
I’ve decided to start my review by stating that I’ve noticed there are many reasons people read Christian Fiction. I won’t name the reasons, but in my case, I don’t want to see sex scenes and an abundance of language I’d prefer not to see or say. That said, if a book feels too didactic or Christianity seems obtrusive to the story, that’s not something that I’m seeking.
Life Flight checked many of my boxes so I will definitely be following the Extreme Measures series. The writing flowed and the dialog was believable. The suspense pulled me in and held me throughout nearly all of the book. Though there were several characters, they were introduced throughout the chapters and I didn’t feel overloaded with names and histories. The chemistry between the main characters was good, but I did question some of the actions.
My Concerns
As I said, this book caught my attention and ran with it . . . until I had to brake and say, huh?
I will do doubt be vague because I hate to even read a synopsis which tends to ruin the surprise of happenings in a story. But one particular character is singled out as being the person the serial killer will be searching for next. Here’s where my brakes screeched to a stop. Basically, she was told to be careful, but no one was assigned to surveillance or to guard her.
The same thing happened later on in the story when it was obvious that there was one more person who had been working with the killer who hadn’t been located. It wasn’t handled in the way I believe the FBI or police might have reacted. Especially Penny’s friend.
Now, these aren’t major things, but I guess in a way they were for me. They just niggled at the back of my mind as I read.
My Final Thoughts
This is an easy yes to the start of a new series. However, the reason I mentioned my thoughts at the beginning regarding Christian Fiction is that it may not be what you’re looking for. This book referenced God and prayers, yet Christianity was only slightly weaved into the story. It is about serial killers, which may be a topic that won’t work for you.
I won’t miss her next book, and this is a series that I’m so glad I was invited to read.
My thanks to Revell books for a gifted copy and the ability to post my opinion.
