Synopsis
Once held captive and tortured on a mysterious mountain, Dan was lucky to have made it out alive. But freedom comes at a cost. Left with little memory of the horrific ordeal, Dan can recall one thing–his escape meant leaving his brother behind.
With each day that passes, Dan waits with the other survivors in hope of his brother’s escape. But just as long-forgotten memories start rising to the surface, the sudden appearance of a wounded woman throws everything into question. As Dan struggles to know who to trust, he is caught once again in a paralyzing moral dilemma:
How far will he go to save the people he loves?

My Thoughts
This is my first book by Shawn Smucker and I’m definitely finding it hard to review. While I’m sure there are lots of parallel thoughts and hidden meanings, I often found myself confused and wondering what I might be missing.

The hard part about sharing my review is that I realize this type of writing will appeal to some. And I don’t want my lack of appreciation to hinder others from picking the book up since the story is the works of an imaginative author who is an extremely good writer.
For those who love the ability to ponder a little deeper into meanings and even a mystery, I would definitely recommend you pick up a copy of These Nameless Things. But, to be honest, it was a little too confusing and I wasn’t in the mood to work that hard in order to enjoy a book.
I’m rating this 3 stars because the book was not a good fit for me, and may not be for others.
But will I pick it up and read it again at a later date? Sure. I might feel different about it when the world has settled down a bit.
My thanks to Revell Read for a copy of this book and the ability to post my opinion of it.
