Global Search And Rescue, Book 3
ABOUT THE BOOK
Kidnapped by rebels while serving as a humanitarian aid worker in Chechnya, Signe Kincaid has spent the past decade secreting out valuable information about Russian assets in the US to her CIA handler. Fearing for her daughter after being discovered as an operative, Signe sends her to former Navy SEAL Hamilton Jones for safekeeping. Signe is ready to give her life for her country, and she can hardly expect Ham to rescue her after breaking his heart over and over.
Hamilton Jones has never forgotten the only woman he loved–and he can’t believe after all these years she’s shown up alive. But can he forgive her for her secrets? And, when Ham discovers the reason Signe has kept her distance, he must choose between love for her and love for the nation he has vowed to protect.
Will he save the many? Or the few? And what is the price of valor?

My Thoughts
I have to be honest, in some cases, you can easily pick up the third book in a series and be just fine. But in this case, it was a bit difficult to do.
While it had to have been hard on Warren to bring readers up-to-date on all of the characters, it also felt like overload to the new reader of this series. Yes, in time I picked up on most of the characters, but I’m sure it would have been much better for me to have started with The Way of the Brave.
That being said, the first of this book seemed slow and a bit confusing, however, it wasn’t long before the suspense picked up and concern about each character took a back seat to the action. I decided that I would figure each person out as the story progressed.
The main characters in this story (and perhaps the earlier ones) are Hamilton (Ham) Jones, a former Navy SEAL, and his wife Signe, a CIA operative who disappeared from his life many years ago. In this book Ham and his group are asked to locate his wife and bring her to safety.
What Concerned Me
Several things bothered me about this story.
- Though I tried to understand Signe, her character was pretty unlikable which in turn caused me to question Ham’s thinking. I wish I’d felt more from both sides of this relationship. Plus, the turnaround that is seen by Signe didn’t feel realistic.
- I’ve read and reviewed many many Christian novels, but toward the end of this one, it felt heavy handed and repetitive with a religious theme. In my case, it didn’t feel realistic to the characters.
What I Liked
The adventure and suspense aspect was right on. Though not all of it felt terribly believable, it pulled me in and had me hurriedly flipping the pages. It actually was a hard book to put down, once I made it through the first part, which understandably was confusing.
It’s a fast-paced story that covers a volcano eruption, a tsunami, and a hostage. Sound interesting? It is! But to really bring out the best of this series, pick up The Way of The Brave , The Heart of a Hero and The Price of Valor. Then grab a blanket and a cup of hot coffee or tea.

Rating
3.5 but I round up
