A Triple Threat Novel #1
Description
Hate mail was one thing. This was quite another.
Radio talk show host Eve Reilly is used to backlash from her pot-stirring on-air commentary and interviews. But now it seems a disgruntled listener is resorting to more than angry words to express their displeasure. When a suspicious package arrives on her doorstep, Eve turns to law enforcement for help.
Police detective Brent Lange can’t find any evidence to link the string of unsettling incidents that follows, but he’s convinced they’re connected. As the harassment grows more menacing, it becomes clear someone wants Eve’s voice silenced–permanently.
But unless he can track down her elusive foe, the gutsy woman who is willing to take risks for what she believes–and who is swiftly winning his heart–may not survive.
My Thoughts
This book was definitely interesting and kept me turning pages.
The story starts out with conservative talk show Eve receiving what she believes to be a bomb delivered to her doorstep. Though it is later determined to be fake, she continues to receive threats. An on-air phone call from someone offering information about her past, and threatening notes telling her to stop her show are among the messages she begins receiving. Brent Lange, a detective working her case quickly becomes drawn in by Eve and his concern for her.
Yes, you guessed it, they quickly realize they are attracted to each other and a sweet story ensues, though complicated.
While this book didn’t feel overly suspenseful, I did find it difficult to put down. And though the ending felt somewhat predictable, there were a few surprises. One that will feel believable to some and others might highly question.
The character development worked for me. They felt real and their actions felt reasonable, for the most part.
At this point (no pun intended) I’m completely excited to continue with the series.
My Concerns
With the country in such political unrest, I feel the topic of Eve’s moral, conservative talk-show might come across as offensive to some, who can say? Yet, it didn’t distract for me since books cover all sorts of beliefs.
Final Thoughts
This felt like several stories in one with multiple suspects. And these suspects were all people with believable character traits.

Some will love the ride, others may find some concerns.
About the Author
Irene Hannon is a bestselling, award-winning author who took the publishing world by storm at the tender age of 10 with a sparkling piece of fiction that received national attention.
Okay…maybe that’s a slight exaggeration. But she was one of the honorees in a complete-the-story contest conducted by a national children’s magazine. And she likes to think of that as her “official” fiction-writing debut!
Since then, she has written more than 50 romantic suspense and contemporary romance/women’s fiction novels. She is a seven-time finalist for and three-time winner of the RITA award—the “Oscar” of romance fiction—and a member of the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame. She has also received a Career Achievement award from RT Book Reviews for her entire body of work. In addition, her books have won a Daphne du Maurier award, two Carol awards, three HOLT Medallions, a National Readers’ Choice award, a Retailers Choice award, three Booksellers’ Best awards and two Reviewers’ Choice awards from RT Book Reviews. She is also a two-time Christy award finalist.
Irene, who holds a B.A. in psychology and an M.A. in journalism, juggled two careers for many years until she gave up her executive corporate communications position with a Fortune 500 company to write full time. She is happy to say she has no regrets!
In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, gardening and singing. A trained vocalist, she has sung the leading role in numerous musicals, including “South Pacific,” “Brigadoon,” “Oklahoma” “The King and I” and “Anything Goes.” She is also a soloist at her church. When not otherwise occupied, Irene and her husband enjoy traveling, Saturday mornings at their favorite coffee shop and spending time with family. They make their home in Missouri.
